Vincent is a 9th grader at Jasper High School (Plano, Texas). Learn more about him in the interview below!

Q: What’s one fun fact about yourself?
A: The first time I sat next to a window on an airplane, I threw up. So now, I never sit next to windows on airplanes.

Q: How did you get interested in Expii?
A: I found out about Expii after listening to Mr. Po-Shen Loh, the founder of Expii, talk at a math contest about how he wanted to change education two years ago. He showed us a very young version of Expii and I thought it would be interesting to use.

Q: How do you use Expii?
A: I usually work on the problem sets whenever they are released, and sometimes if I see an interesting topic or concept that hasn’t been explained yet, I’ll write an explanation if I have time.

Q: What’s your math background?
A: I used to exclusively do math in preparation for competitions. I’m still involved in those, but after a few years of competing I don’t feel so strongly attached to competition results and scores anymore, so now I also do other things such as write problems for the Online Math Open (OMO) and read interesting articles.

Q: Do you have a favorite math concept or area?
A: Judging by the amount of time I spent on this question, there are probably too many branches of math for me to give a good answer.

Q: Anything else you want to share about yourself?
A: A few years ago, I used to play lots of games. But ever since I got a smartphone, I’ve never been able to keep a game installed on it for more than day without uninstalling out of boredom. I’m really not sure if this behavior is good or not…
