This week’s top scorer is: Jason Shaw!
Jason Shaw

Jason attended Ottumwa High School in Ottumwa, IA, Iowa State University, and Indiana University. He’s worked at Truman State University for 10 years, and just finished his first year at Washburn University!

Q: What’s one fun fact about yourself?
A: I am a home brewer and have been brewing beer for 7 years now.

Q: How did you get interested in Expii?
A: Through a tweet sent out by Oliver Roeder, the editor of The Riddler on FiveThirtyEight.

Q: How do you use Expii?
A: I use it for fun, mostly. I try and organize the problems so that I can use them in different classes in the future.

Q: What’s your math background?
A: I acquired my Ph.D. in Probability Theory from Indiana University in 2005, and have been teaching statistics, math, and actuarial science for 11 years.

Q: Do you have a favorite math concept or area?
A: Markov Chains, Actuarial Math, Linear Models, and Number Theory.

Q: Anything else you want to share about yourself?
A: My wife and I are minimalists who love to travel, hike, and discover wonderful craft breweries. I love to solve problems, write, read, and relax with my two cats, Pliny and Seymour. Recently, I got into CrossFit, and am loving it.
