Whether you count down the days of summer in anticipation or try to soak up every last ray of sunshine, the beginning of September brings teachers and students back into the classroom.

From first year teachers preparing their lesson plans to experienced educators who are looking to provide students with uniquely creative and diverse resources, we at Expii understand the amount of prep that it all takes.

Teachers, that is why we wanted to help you out a bit.

First, let us introduce ourselves. Expii is an education platform created, designed, and populated by teachers, professors, and subject-matter enthusiasts. Expii adapts to each individual student, crafting a personalized experience that helps them comprehend and retain knowledge. We want to empower you by giving you a resource that helps your students get excited about learning.

Now that you know a bit about us, we’d like to show you a bit about how you can use Expii in your classrooms.

1. Empower Students to Learn Their Own Way

Every student learns in their own style at their own pace, and Expii can adapt to each and every one. Every topic can be populated with an unlimited variety of explanations and teaching styles. From text, to video, to interactive Q&A, there are no limitations to how a concept is explained.

Click on the topic map from the homepage and select Math or Science to start your journey.

2. Adaptive Practice Problems

Expii’s adaptive algorithm gives every practice problem a difficulty rating and every person a score. With each problem your students attempt, both the problem’s rating and your students’ scores update in real time. This allows us to present students with questions that ensure understanding, challenge them, and take them beyond mastery into total comprehension. No one gets left behind, and it gives overachievers a chance to expand their understanding as they continually encounter harder problems.

Just choose your subject and let Expii do the rest. You can start with general areas such as  Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, or Algebra 2 or focus on specific concepts such as Fractions, Quadratic Equations, or Logarithms.

3. Learn Through Teaching

The best way to learn is to teach. As teachers ourselves, we’ve experienced the feeling of truly mastering a concept only after explaining it to someone else. Expii offers students (and teachers) the opportunity to contribute their own explanations, videos, illustrations, problems, and solutions. This gives you and your students the chance to lend your own unique voices and teaching styles to a diverse field of lessons.

Creating explanations is easy. Simply log into Expii and search for a topic you’d like to tackle. Click the + Add Your Explanation button and you’re good to go. Use everyday language to introduce your concept, and add videos, diagrams, and pictures to illustrate your explanations. You can even use questions throughout to make sure your students understand as they work through the lesson.

All content is voted on by site members and is monitored by subject matter experts. For a student, the voting process also reinforces critical thinking skills, adding an interdisciplinary angle to math education.

4. Creative Math Puzzles

Every week, Expii releases a new set of five thought-provoking, interactive math puzzles specifically designed to pique your students’ curiosity. Based on current events and popular culture, each Solve set starts in familiar territory but quickly shows your students unexpected and amazing ways of looking at math and the world.

Our Solve sets are released every Thursday, just in time for a Fun Friday extra credit challenge or weekly brain teaser. The questions also span a wide spectrum of challenge levels (with convenient difficulty ratings right underneath the titles), so you’ll be sure to find something for every classroom.

We made this week’s set just for you! Check out our Back to School set.

5. Homework Help

List us as a resource for your students. Both students and parents will love the ability to search and practice concepts at home, until they are confident that they have a deep understanding. They will not only ace their next test, but will gain a foundational block that their future education will build on.

Bonus: Connect through Edmodo

We like to make everything as quick and easy for you as possible. That’s why we’ve recently teamed up with Edmodo to offer an even better experience. You and your students can now log in to Expii with your Edmodo accounts, integrating with your regular workflow!

These are just the tip of the iceberg. Explore the site and reach out to us with any concerns, questions, ideas for how to make this work better in your classroom, or even just to say hi. We’re built for and by the community of teachers, students, and enthusiasts, and we’d love to hear from you. Drop us a line at educators@expii.com.

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and now even Pinterest! And if you like what we do here, do us a favor and share expii.com with your friends and colleagues!
