Meet Mark Paulson!
Mark is one of our Math Content Writers, and has been with us since May. Get to know him in his interview below.
Where are you from? What was your hometown like?
I’m originally from Upstate New York, in a tiny town near Rochester called Mendon. While I loved it there, I needed a bit of a faster pace, so I went to school here in Pittsburgh, where I have remained ever since.
What are your personal interests/hobbies?
I was a runner for several years, and have recently looked into expanding into triathlon. Other than that, I love playing and watching basketball, and am an avid Magic: the Gathering player.
What’s your favorite food?
My favorite food is my dad’s pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. They are both incredibly delicious, as well as a cure to all of life’s maladies.
How did you get into math? What do you like about it?
I have always been into math, from before I can remember. My parents like to reference a story of me asking for arithmetic problems at the age of 5 and 6, probably far past the point of frustration. My favorite part about math is the creativity you can use to find an answer that you couldn’t find before.
What’s something you’ve achieved?
I have climbed 28 out of 46 mountains in the Adirondack region. I have a few more to go to become a full 46er!
What’s your favorite thing about Expii?
My favorite thing about Expii is all of the interesting, engaging people I have met through my work here. This is a great place to work!
